Caroline Bichet
Caroline Bichet (b. 1966) grew up in Versailles, France. Her early love of the arts was ignited by frequent visits to the Louvre, and she quickly developped a passion for the old masters.
While pursuing her master’s degree in English at the University of La Sorbonne (Paris), she spent three years studying illustration and fine arts at the Parsons School of Design, both in France and in the USA.
An avid dancer, she moved to the US, trained and started a career as a ballroom dance instructor.
After 10 years spent abroad, she moved back to France and felt the need to renew with the visual arts. She opened classes in the Atelier style, and has been teaching fine arts since 2015.
In 2018 she moved to Italy to attend the rigourous drawing and painting program of the Florence art academies (The Florence Academy of Art, The Florence Studio).
She is currently exploring the traditional process of classical realism : sight–size drawing as well as cast, figure, portrait, and still life painting.
For the past 30 years, Caroline has also been passionate about copying the old masters. She first studied under Jörg Hermle in his atelier in Paris. With him she discovered a wide array of techniques : from the bees wax painting of the Fayum portraits, or the egg tempera of the Italian Primitive, down to the tempera grassa of the Flemish masters.
In 2020, Caroline founded Ateliers-France and she is now offering academic ateliers style art workshops and classes in France.
Caroline Bichet is a figurative painter. She is well experienced as a teacher and will answer each of her students’ specific needs and questions.
